A female Bronze dragon, curled into the shape of an infinity symbol and clutching an egg, forms the centerpiece of the Dragonlords of Dumnonia Award of Excellence. On the fictional world of Centuria, this symbol represents a deity known as the Mother, a fertility goddess of great antiquity who is strongly associated with ideas of creation and love. This award is intended to honor exceptional sites that promote creativity, education, and love. The Award of Excellence is only presented to sites that, in the opinion of the Board of Directors of Dragonlords of Dumnonia, meet the exacting criteria detailed below.
| Creativity | The site must have at least one project or activity that promotes
creativity in others. (Examples are writing groups,
publications--including fanzines--and art contests.) |
|---|---|
| Education | The site must have at least one project or activity that educates
visitors about something (A human rights topic is a plus.). |
| Integrity | The site may not promote hatred, evil, violence, or prejudice in any form.
Fictional portrayals must make it clear that these things are not condoned. |
The site may not contain any pornography. |
|
The site may not contain any graphic descriptions of violence. |
|
The site may not contain any "real world" swear words. |
|
The site must include warning lables on all pages that feature information
that may not be suitable for younger viewers. (For instance, Dragonlords
has placed such a warning on its Domestic Violence Page.). |
|
The site may not be knowingly in violation of any copyright laws. There
must be a way to report suspected copyright violations plainly visible from the
main index page or easily accessed from the main index page. All artwork
must be credited unless the images are in the public domain. |
|
The site may not steal bandwidth.
|
A reasonable load time will also improve your chances, since the judges are less likely to become annoyed if they do not have to wait forever for the site's pages to load.
The best way to tell what is acceptable is to look at Dragonlords' site and at sites that have previously won this award. For the list of winners, click here or on the sample award image at the top of this page.
Winners of the Dragonlords of Dumnonia Award of Excellence may link back to our site if they wish, but they are not required to do so.

Judging
Submissions are collected on a continuing basis. All submissions will be acknowledged upon receipt, and the site will be placed into the queue. When your site name is removed from the queue, that means the Board of Directors has finished reviewing the site. The Board reviews as many submissions as possible and discusses the merits of the nominees at the monthly board meeting. Following the meeting L.A. Malcor will send personalized award images to successful nominees. She will send rejection notices, along with reasons for the rejection and suggestions for improvement as time permits. Sites that are rejected may reapply after addressing the problems cited by the Board.

Special Achievement Award

Judges, at their discretion, may also award a reviewed site the Dragonlords of Dumnonia Special Achievement Award. The Dragonquest is the tenth in a series of trials that a Dumnonian must undergo before he/she is allowed to Bond with a Bronze Dragon. The Special Achievement Award will only be presented to sites that meet all of the criteria for the Award of Excellence and then demonstrate an additional effort of extraordinary proportions in some field (for instance, webdesign, creative writing, or human rights).
