The Dragonlords of Dumnonia

Banker's Manual

(Revised 12/27/99)

The Banker is not a character but a service. The Banker is in charge of maintaining a database of the gold pieces owned by the various personae and NPCs in the club. The Banker works closely with Dragonlord Krin (Legend@malcor.com). It is a good idea (though certainly not required) for the Banker to own his or her own dice so that he or she could roll for a member that does not have them. Otherwise, the Banker can contact Dragonlord Krin for that service <g>.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Banker needs to:

  1. Create a database that lists every persona and every NPC who has gold pieces.

This database should contain the following columns:

Data in fields should be able to remain blank until a player instructs the Banker to enter figures for a given character. For instance, Krin's starting gold pieces field would remain blank until Krin calculates his starting gold pieces.

  2. Maintain the database

This way we can tell people how many gold pieces they have when they ask. Maintaining the database will include:

  3. Roll gold pieces for people who do not have dice. Also roll numbers for calculationg the starting gold pieces for people who do not have dice (The players should do all the other calculations themselves, though, unless the Banker really wants to check the math <g>.).

  4. Notify Draognlord Krin (Legend@malcor.com) if someone "runs out of gold pieces" <g>.

  5. Add fields for new characters as those characters are created.

UPDATING THE DATABASE

The database should be updated once per month (following the monthly RP Session). At that time, send a copy of the database to Dragonlord Krin (Legend@malcor.com) so that copies are on different computer systems in case of electronic or other problems.

ROLLING STARTING GOLD PIECES

Yes, it is possible to figure out how many gold pieces a given character had at the start of play. Not fun, but possible. Here's how to do it.
  1. Children under 5 years of age earn no gold pieces.
  2. For characters over 5 years of age, roll 6 times per year on the Gold Piece Chart (below) for ages 5 and up, adjusting for category as character rank changes.
  3. Calculate the number of entry fees and purses one from races for characters who own racers. Add this figure to the earned gold pieces.
  4. 25% of the resulting figure is the number of starting gold pieces. The rest of the money went for living expenses, gifts, etc.

ROLLING GATHER GOLD PIECES

Calculate Market Day gold pieces on the following table.
Gold Pieces Rank
1+1d4 Apprentices; Acolytes/Initiates; Pickpockets; Fighters; Squires; Landless Nobles; General Folk (Non-Ranking people)
20+1d20 Journeymen; Dragonriders; Mages; Robbers; Raiders; Soldiers; Deacons; Assistant Camp Aides, Headcooks and Stewards; Cottagers
30+3d10 Camp Aides; Headcooks; Stewards; Exercise Masters; Senior Journeymen; Dragonteachers
50+3d10 Master Guilders; Lesser Nobles; Dragonlords; Wizards; Warriors; Knights; Thieves; Spies; Priests
75+2d20 Heirs to Castles; Commanders; Dragontrainers; Princes; Other Special Ranks
100+3d20 Guildmasters; Major Nobles; Rulers; High Priests; Great Wizard; Great Druid

If you don't see a rank, ask your BOD, and they'll figure it out for you.

RACES

Dragonlord Krin (Legend@malcor.com) will cc the Banker with entry fees and with the results of all purses and bets (purchases and winnings) for races. Dragonlord Krin will also apprise the Banker of expenditures for special events (such as raffles and auctions). Players will be responsible for informing the Banker of other deposits and withdrawals.

If you have any questions, contact Dragonlord Krin (Legend@malcor.com). Thank you for your service!
