Los Ranchos Presbytery Issues

January 20, 2001, the debate on Amendment O (the overture on same-sex unions that passed by such a close margin) will be coming before our Presbytery. Please attend the October 14th chapter meeting for details about what is happening with this issue. Hope to see you there!

Local Chapter News

Please note that the chapter is going on hiatus until after the first of the year. There will be no more meetings or newsletters in 2000. The newsletter will resume in January 2001, and our next meeting will be January 21, 2001, which is the day following the Presbytery meeting at which Amendment O will be presented. For 2001, the chapter will meet quarterly rather than monthly, with special meetings called as circumstances demand. The newsletter will also shift to a quarterly schedule at this time.

Financial Report
We currently have about $300 left in our account at the moment, but most of that is earmarked for expenses (supplies, fees, etc.) that have been incurred throughout this year. Our $300 budget line through the St. Mark Peace and Justice Commission is almost exhausted as well (postage, office supplies, etc.). We would like to make contributions to allied organizations for the holidays, but we will not have the funds available to do so. We are also looking at starting the new year and the battle against Amendment O without much in the way of financial resources. Please consider making donations to our chapter as you compile your Christmas giving list. We desperately need the support.

Articles or opinion pieces written by group members are welcome and will normally appear in this space. No submissions were received for this issue of our newsletter. Please e-mail, send on disk, or hand write your article and get it to Linda Malcor.
