Companion by Sara Haas

Heyla, Misty fans!

Happy Mother’s Day to all you moms out there! Hope you have a great day. (We’re supposed to get rain here in Southern California . . . suppose we should be used to it by now .) The big news this month is that Moonstar has moved. Please make note of her new e-mail address: healermoon@gmail.com. Most of the website should now reflect the change. Let Danya know at Legend@malcor.com if we missed anything! Moonstar and Danya have now been running QO for five years! Doesn’t seem possible . . . As they say, “Time flies when you’re having fun” . This year, our ranks have swelled to 582 people with approved personae in Queen’s Own: 474 Heralds, 9 Herald-Mages, 29 Bards, 1 Blue, 22 Healers, 3 Mercenaries, 11 Shin’a’in, 3 Sorceressess, 35 Tayledras and 2 “other” folks. The numbers don’t entirely add up because of some crossover characters like our 5 Shin’a’in-Heralds, 1 Herald-Sorceress and 1 Shin’a’in-Herald-Mercenary. And let’s not forget our stack of 29 NPC’s: 16 Heralds (including 1 Shin’a’in-Herald), 4 Bards, 4 Healers, 1 Kal’enedral, 3 Tayledras and 1 Sorceress. There are 7 active chapters of QO, including 2 online chapters, and several chapters are up for adoption. If you are interested in joining or adopting a chapter, please visit http://www.dragonlordsnet.com/qochap.htm. Publication news: Sanctuary, the third installment of the Dragon Jousters series, is set for release in May; you’ll also be able to pick up Mad Maudlin in paperback, coauthored with Rosemary Edghill. This Rough Magic, coauthored with Eric Flint and Dave Freer, should hit shelves in paperback this June. Bedlam’s Edge, the next installment in the Bedlam’s Bard series coauthored with Rosemary Edghill, is still on track for an August release, as is the re-release of Children of the Night. The fourth and newest installment in Misty’s Elemental Masters series, The Wizard of London, is coming in early October. While you’re there, you can pick up a paperback copy of the third Elemental Masters book, Phoenix and Ashes. Special thanks to Amber Taufen for her help compiling this edition of the Queen’s Own newsletter! We really appreciate the assistance. Have a fantastic Spring!

Zhai'helleva,

Herald-Mage Adept Danya Winterborn and Healer Adept Moonstar

Collegium News:

We have individual handouts for aspiring Heralds, Healers, Bards, Blues, Mercenaries, Tayledras, Shin'a'in, and White Winds Sorcerers/Sorceresses and instructions on how to work for Herald-Mage status if you are already a Herald or for a Kal'enedral if you are already a Shin'a'in. You can find these handouts online at http://www.dragonlordsnet.com/qohandouts.htm.

You need a release form (online at http://www.dragonlordsnet.com/qomlrel2.htm) if you write a story set in Misty's worlds or using any of her characters. You do not need a release for a character sketch, poem or filk. All Misty wants to do is protect her characters and her worlds. Send the release form (you do NOT need to include the story) to Misty c/o High Flight Arts and Letters, P.O. Box 2970, Claremore, OK 74017. Do NOT include the original of the release form with your persona material; send it to Misty. Send a copy to us.

All personae materials should be sent to the QO address or submitted by e-mail to Legend@malcor.com and healermoon@gmail.com.

We have no new personae to announce this month, but several people are very close to completion. If you were working on a persona who is no longer listed at http://www.dragonlordsnet.com/qochat.htm that means we have not heard from you in over a year. To revive your persona, simply message Danya at Legend@malcor.com and tell her that your persona is in "Deep Storage." She will pull it out for you and reactivate your submission.

If you are a returning member who has recently activated your membership in Queen’s Own and we have forgotten to list you, message Danya at Legend@malcor.com, and she’ll make sure you are greeted in the next newsletter.

Lost . . .

One of the challenges running an online club is that people don’t always leave a forwarding address when they move . We are missing current e-mail addresses for the following members:

If you know any of these folks, please have them contact Danya at Legend@malcor.com with a current e-mail address.

From Healer Adept Moonstar:

Surrounded by boxes, heaving a sigh of relief that the cable guy finally set up the Internet, I am nearly done moving and have vowed to save money to hire an actual moving company next time.  I have just a few boxes left at my old apartment, and no time to unpack the boxes in my new apartment. As I have thrown out my shoulder and am on strict doctor's orders to do nothing for the next few days.

Added to the move was the heart break of finding all my four footed babies homes. Trying to move with any pets is difficult and to move with the amount I had was impossible. The only apartment that was in my price range was out of reach with additional pet deposit and rent. They have all gone to various rescues, all of which I need to thank. I have a big gaping hole in my heart, I am happy that I can visit Sasha, my shepherd mix I have had for 12 years and happy that my breeder will likely keep my kittens until next year when I am fairly sure I will be in a better financial position to afford to pay the additional apartment fees for animals.

My son has started at his new school this week, and he doesn't seem to have many of the common new school phobias of kids his age. Since baseball season has started we decided to ask what my son knew about baseball, and he said "I don't know much but I do know that the batter has to hit the ball before the Vampire gets it." I think he may have watched Van Helsing one to many times.

This next weekend to be spent cleaning the old apartment and catching up on my school work I am overly behind on, I will likely not be overly chatty on the lists or emails for the next couple of weeks while things settle out. Please be sure to note the new e-mail address: healermoon@gmail.com.

Hugs-

Moonstar
