Dear Misty Fans,

Border Art WOW! A new Misty book to read--Storm Breaking--and unexpected good news. Misty and Larry will attend Dragon*Con in Atlanta next June. We'll tell you more about it in future newsletters; this is just advance notice so you can start planning to attend too. Storm Breaking is a hardback, with interior illustrations by Larry, and more than a few surprises. (That's what's on the other side of the Iftel border? I never guessed!)

News flash from Firebird Arts & Music: Mark Shepherd is doing an instrumental album to go along with his newest book. The working title of both is Spirit Ride and the story is set in the same universe as Elvendude. The release dates for book and album are unscheduled. Misty and Paul Espinoza of Golden Bough are writing songs for a Firebird album. No, not the story of our favorite recording company, but Misty's retelling of the Russian Firebird legend. The book, a hardback, has a December release date and the album should be ready in February.

The Firebird Music Special Summer Update catalog has T-shirts for every taste, from beautiful Celtic and Michael Whelan designs to the bizarre and strange. (Imagine "Curiosity Kilt the Cat" and "Feline Groovy.") Of course there's music: TEMPEST, various Celtic artists, Michael Longcor, native American music by R. Carlos Nakai and others, and David Arkenstone. You can order all of Misty's books from Firebird as well as an Arrows of the Queen Concordance or songbook, Silver Gryphon patches and pins, related jewelry and stationery, and more. Soon to come is a Shadow Stalker Songbook.

Check out the Firebird on-line catalog at [Ed. note 2005: Out-of-date info withheld.] for the most up to date product information. Also from Baen in November is Josepha Sherman's sequel to The Shattered Oath, Forging the Runes. Lois McMaster Bujold's Shards of Honor and Barrayar will be released in one volume as Cordelia's Honor. The new Miles Vorkosigan adventure, Memory, is in bookstores now.

Once upon a time one could subscribe to a listing of conventions from all over the world. I never bothered because it was in small print and was too hard for me to read.
